Heidfeld: ''No one benefits if Vettel goes to Mercedes''

The future of Sebastian Vettel is still uncertain for the time being. The German is leaving Ferrari, but has not yet announced what he will do in 2021. However, according to his fellow German, a switch to Mercedes is unrealistic.
Hamilton and Vettel
"It's a shame, but a move to Mercedes is unrealistic. It's interesting to hear that Toto Wolff looks at the qualities and not the nationality. A German team would of course want to have Vettel for marketing, but in my opinion Hamilton and Vettel can never form a single team," says Nick Heidfeld at German Sky Sports.
''Nobody benefits from Vettel's move to Mercedes. He ends up in a team that is completely in the hands of Lewis Hamilton who is also in top form. That's not ideal for Vettel, but also for Hamilton it won't be nice to have such a teammate", says the former driver of BMW and others.
No Mercedes for Vettel
Besides the drivers who don't like it, it's also up to the team. The period with Nico Rosberg and Hamilton did teach Mercedes that it is not always advantageous to have two fast drivers and with the arrival of Vettel they could end up in the same situation as in that period.
''Mercedes shouldn't want those two driving together either. That causes a lot of commotion and I just don't see that happening. But we'll have to wait and see what happens. I haven't spoken to Vettel, so I don't know what he's going to do'', concludes former Formula 1 driver.
