Pascal Wehrlein will be racing for the Porsche Formula E team next season. The former Formula 1 driver will switch from Mahindra. This unveils The Race on their website.

Departure from Wehrlein

Wehrlein will immediately leave the Mahindra team to join Porsche. The German driver would have had the wish not to end the third and final year of his Mahindra contract for the team. His contract would have lasted until the 2020/2021 season.

It is therefore expected that Wehrlein will no longer be competing for Mahindra in the current season, which is expected to start again in August. The Indian team will soon announce the replacement of Wehrlein.

Neel Jani

Porsche has not yet announced which of the two current drivers should clear the field, but in all likelihood that will be Neel Jani. He joined the Formula E programme in December 2018. Jani has been under pressure since the start of the season as he has not yet scored a single point in the first five races.

However, it looks like Jani will finish the current season. The current Formula E season will be completed with a series of races at the Tempelhof circuit in Berlin.
