Liberty Media recently published the calendar for the first eight Grands Prix of the season in Europe. The owner of Formula 1 immediately said that there may be more European races to come, including the names of circuits such as Hockenheim, Jerez, Mugello and Imola. Portimao is now also associated with organizing a GP.

The medium A Bola writes this weekend that Formula 1 even wants a back-to-back race to take place on the circuit in the Algarve. According to information from the Portuguese newspaper, the royal class of motorsport would drive again at Mugello after the Monza Grand Prix. After that, Formula 1 will settle at Portimao on 27 September and 4 October.

The circuit has the Grade 1 license which means that it meets all the requirements of the FIA to host Formula 1. In the coming weeks it will undoubtedly become more clear what the remaining part of the Formula 1 calendar will look like.

Formula 1 has never travelled to Portimao for a Grand Prix before. However, Formula 1 cars have been tested several times in the past on the circuit that was built in 2008.
