Update: Hamilton removes attack on Marko from social channels
- GPblog.com
Lewis Hamilton's support for the #blacklivesmatter movement has attracted attention in recent weeks and hasn't finished yet. The fact that Helmut Marko finds it a distraction is unacceptable to Hamilton.
''Where some riders are distracted to talk about people whose lives are also important, for Max Verstappen only the world title is important and he has optimized his training to be ready for the season'', said Helmut Marko earlier to the German RTL, but that's a kick against the sore leg of Hamilton.
Hamilton in the attack
''Helmut, I'm very sorry that you see my fight for human equality and the fight against racism in the world as a distraction. I feel attacked by it. You know what a distraction was? That people with black faces came to the races to scare my family'', Hamilton said on Instagram.
''It was a distraction that I was unfairly treated as a child by the colour of my skin. I hope this says something for the people with skin color within your own team and what priorities you have in life. Wake up, this sport must change'', Hamilton concludes his clear attack on the Red Bull top man.
UPDATE | 13:45
Lewis Hamilton has meanwhile removed the message from his social channels. The English medium that the German source had translated into the upper quotes of Helmut Marko, turned out not to show the message anymore. Doubts arose about the existence of Marko's quote, so Hamilton probably had to remove the comment.
