On Wednesday there was a heavy discussion on the web as a result of statements Helmut Marko would have made at RTL Germany. These statements would refer to 'certain drivers' who are too distracted by the Black Lives Matters discussion, where Verstappen focuses purely on winning the world title. Lewis Hamilton reacted and spoke disgracefully, but both the original message with Marko's statements and the Brit's reaction have been taken offline again.

He never said that

The origin of the discussion would have been an interview of RTL Germany with Red Bull Racing team advisor Helmut Marko, from which Essentially Sports quoted. That's where it went wrong, because the statements that went around the web afterwards turned out not to be true. Marko didn't say those things.

Red Bull informed RacingNews365 who asked about this. A Red Bull representative says: "RTL confirmed to us that these statements were never made during the interview. Esentially Sports then removed the article and tweet in question from its site." Hamilton also removed his reaction, perhaps after the Brit was informed about this 'fake news'.

Helmut Marko himself has not (yet) responded to the issue.
