Example for Leclerc: ''Verstappen knew how to correct his mistakes quickly''

Sebastian Vettel leaves Ferrari at the end of 2020 and that gives Charles Leclerc the immediate status of Nr.1 driver at Ferrari. However, with this power comes a lot of pressure and under a magnifying glass Leclerc first has to show that he is worth the lead.
In 2019, Leclerc surprised friend and foe by defeating his teammate Vettel in qualifying and in points over an entire season. Leclerc was better than the four-time world champion and got a contract with which he is committed until 2024. Where he came in new last year, he has to prove it now.
Leclerc needs to watch Verstappen
''Last year he had a lot of freedom and then his mistakes weren't so obvious, but he really made some mistakes. Now he has to carry that team and that brings a whole different kind of pressure. Ferrari really sees this as a long term project and Leclerc is an important part in it", says Craig Slater in a video of Sky Sports.
Johnny Herbert, however, sees that young talents are adapting more and more often. ''Max Verstappen also got the chance to join a top team at a young age and also had to deal with his own mistakes and the accompanying criticism. Verstappen, however, adapted quickly and has shown that young talents can make that step quickly,'' Herbert concludes with the example that Leclerc must follow.
