The Formula 1 circus flock to Austria for the first Grand Prix of the Formula 1 season in 2020, but control will always be there. Formula 1 is even thinking about using an app to control the coronavirus.

The corona app

The Formula 1 season can start again, but under stifling conditions. For example, all staff members are tested, all teams are separated from each other and during the event all kinds of parts such as the podium ceremony are adapted to meet the conditions to organize an event at the time of the coronavirus.

But that's not all, because Formula 1 now also wants to use an app to see who came into contact with whom. For example, it is possible that someone tests positive for the coronavirus and then it is possible to see who this person came into contact with. In an interview with Formula1.com Gunther Steiner explains how this works.

Replacements

''We haven't seen the app yet, but this app can check who the person has been in contact with. These protocols are to see who could be infected with the coronavirus, after someone has tested positive for it. Everybody lives in their own bubble times during the race weekend, but maybe we should replace about six of them,'' says Steiner.

There will be no extra staff going to the Austrian Grand Prix, but there are replacements ready. ''At the factory we have people ready to go at any time. So they don't have to go to Austria right now and then sit in the hotel for days'', concludes Steiner, who also arranged this for his drivers with reserve drivers Pietro Fittipaldi and Louis Deletraz.
