It's only been a little over a week and then the long wait is over. For the first time in more than seven months the F1 drivers are going on the track again for a race weekend. The past few months have not only been annoying for the fans, but also for the teams and drivers, who are obviously longing for action. Lewis Hamilton would therefore like to thank the fans for their continued support.

In a video on the Mercedes twitter channel, Hamilton says that the past few months have not been easy for the team to adapt to the new situation.

"We are now trying to prepare as well as possible for the hardest season we have ever experienced in Formula 1. This is due to the difficult time we are in right now and the changes we have had to implement in our operation".

Hamilton expects loneliness on the circuits

So there is going to be racing again, but Hamilton also realizes that this is going to be a very strange season as well as a difficult one. The fact that all circuits will be completely deserted plays an important role in that. Whether the Brit will drive slower seems unlikely, but certainly not faster.

"I want to thank everyone very much for the positive messages they have sent us. It has helped both the team and me a lot over the last couple of months. I am going to miss you at the races. To drive past empty stands just isn't that inspiring. That's going to be a bit lonely, but I know you're with us in spirit."
