Alain Prost does not expect Lewis Hamilton to win less in Formula 1 in the coming years. On the contrary, according to Renault's advisor Mercedes will still dominate the pinnacle of motorsport in 2021. It would mean that Hamilton will go for eight world titles, if he can beat teammate Valtteri Bottas. Prost doesn't expect much from Red Bull Racing this season.

"The more stable he is in a team, the more stable he is in his life, you can see that he is better", Prost tells Reuters in the run-up to the Hungarian Grand Prix. The former Formula 1 driver thinks it's going to be very difficult for Red Bull to get seriously involved in the title fight. "To beat Lewis for a world championship, especially with that car and the team he has now, is going to be very difficult. Almost impossible in normal circumstances."

The Frenchman predicts that Hamilton will have at least two more world titles to his name. "He has six. I would say eight, easy", said Prost, who doesn't see Max Verstappen as a title candidate. "I cannot see anybody else winning this year. Maybe Valtteri. It depends how many races you have and if you miss one or two because you have a mechanical problem, you never know. He’s in the same car."

Will Renault fight Mercedes in 2021?

According to the 65-year-old Renault top man, no other picture will emerge in 2021. The cars will be taken over almost one on one to next season. This is because the coronavirus has caused the new regulations to be postponed until 2022. "But... I cannot see another car winning (a championship) against a Mercedes this year and next year. After, I don’t know. Maybe Renault he concludes."
