Nico Hülkenberg was a regular driver on the grid between 2012 and 2019. However, since 2020 he has been without a seat after Renault pushed him aside for Esteban Ocon.

Hülkenberg a great loss

According to Max Verstappen, it's a great loss. The two got along well and Verstappen believes that there are currently more drivers on the grid who are not as fast as Hülkenberg.

The Dutchman tells Sky Deutschland: "Nico still belongs to the paddock, here we have a lot of drivers who I think are slower than him. He's a great guy."

Never on the podium

Hülkenberg is best known as the driver who did not make it to the podium. In 177 Grand Prix starts his best result was fourth, which he managed to do three times. The 32 year old German does have one pole position behind his name. He achieved this in Brazil 2010 when he drove for Williams.
