FIA: "Expect after GP Hungary another protest from Renault against Racing Point"
- GPblog.com
Although Renault has already made a protest against the legality of Racing Point, it is expected that they will do so again after the Hungarian Grand Prix. The FIA expects Renault to protest until there is definitive clarity about the Racing Point car.
"All they have now is the protest against the Styrian Grand Prix," explains Nikolas Tombazis, head of the technical department of the single-seaters. "They have the right to protest at other Grands Prix until a decision has been made on the case. Racing Point therefore has the right to drive with the parts in question until that ruling is made".
Protest every race
"In the end, Renault can protest any Grand Prix, then they can do it. If Racing Point has confidence in winning the protest, they won't change either". Because Renault wants the matter to be clear, Tombazis expects more protests. "I think it is likely that we will see more protests, probably until there is a ruling," Tombazis explained at Motorsport.com.
"The steward have given Racing Point three weeks to hand in all the documents. I think they will finish their work before those three weeks," Tombazis concludes. He expects a ruling on the legality of the Racing Point to be made within the next two weeks.
