Also this weekend Renault protested against the legality of the Racing Point. The team would have taken over parts from Mercedes and in doing so would have broken the rules. However, Racing Point is not aware of any harm and is now getting ready to defend itself against the accusations.

Otmar Szafnauer informs Motorsport.com that Racing Point is ready for the accusations. "It is impossible that the brakes are illegal. It takes an enormous amount of time to design them and they are extremely complicated. We have 886 individual drawings for our brakes". The team boss at Racing Point says they don't have a plan B if they are declared illegal.

Stewards still convince

"No, we haven't. They've been protesting for our brakes and we don't have any other brakes. Mainly because the ones we have now are legal. We're not worried at all. In Austria we drove with them, last weekend we drove with them and in Silverstone we're just going to drive with the same brakes".

Yet Szafnauer sounds slightly frustrated, although he has an explanation for this. "I have all the information about how we designed and made it. For the rest, no one knows because we didn't tell the stewards. We told it to the FIA and they said that everything we do is legal. But in the end it's the stewards who decide, so we have to inform them now", Szafnauer concludes.
