Senna memorabilia worth several tons recovered after theft
- GPblog.com
For many collectors of motor sports related memorabilia, items related to Ayrton Senna are the holy grail. At auctions this invariably results in the first prize. Thieves are also aware of this, according to an incident in Italy.
Collector Claudio Giovannone is a big Ayrton Senna fan and even helped set up his charity. Over the years he had collected all kinds of things from and about the Brazilian. From helmets and racing overalls to model cars. When he returned to his summer home after the lockdown, he discovered he had been robbed.
Recovered car, perpetrators, and stuff
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport neighbours had seen an unknown red car in the neighborhood and on the basis of that rather vague tip the stuff has now been recovered. The robbery took place somewhere before July 11th, but still the police managed to locate the red car and to arrest two men near Turin.
They also found all the stolen items that together have a value of about 300,000 euros. The police investigation into the robbery is still ongoing, so the exact motives of the perpetrators are not yet known.
