Mattia Binotto knows that Ferrari has to fight for the third place in the World Championship with the constructors. The Italians are currently in fourth place and the gap to number two Red Bull Racing is already 35 points. Ferrari even has to put up with McLaren.

Binotto suspects that in 2020 Ferrari will have to compete with Racing Point, Renault and McLaren. While last year's Maranello-based race team was more than half a second faster than these teams, this year it's very close with the teams from midfield.

Ferrari has to let Red Bull and Mercedes go

"Certainly we are behind Mercedes and Red Bull. I think we are very close to the others", replies the team boss of Ferrari when asked by Autosport.com if his team is currently the third team in Formula 1.

During last week's weekend at Silverstone, Ferrari brought a successful update. "That downforce package gave us a few tenths, but I think it’s pretty close. There will be races where we are closer and others where we eventually stay ahead. So it is our task, our duty, to develop the car", Binotto concluded.
