The main race of Formula 2 was again a true spectacle at the Circuit de Catalunya. Up to the finish flag the race was fought for victory. However, this also had an inferior side. After a heavy crash in that last lap Sean Gelael had to go to the hospital for examination.

Launched into the air

There it was found that the DAMS driver suffered a small fracture in his vertebra. Out of sight of the cameras he was fighting Jack Aitken when he was launched by a sausage kerb and hit the asphalt hard again.

Despite the annoying result of the MRI-scan, the damage is fortunately not too bad. Gelael was allowed to leave the hospital in the evening and is expected to fully recover. However, as a precaution the FIA does not allow him to participate in the sprint race on Sunday.
