Daniel Ricciardo may have been the only driver in Max Verstappen's career to date who made things really difficult for the Dutchman. The other way around you can say that Verstappen has made his life with the team so hard that he left after three seasons.
In The Howie Games podcast the Australian looks back on his period as a teammate with Max Verstappen. That went wrong a number of times and Verstappen also got a rather wild reputation with other drivers. Ricciardo thinks that you could not have expected much else from such a young driver.
Verstappen didn't care about anything
"“I think credit goes to Max, and a lot of it was his age at the time, that had its down sides with a little bit of immaturity, but it also had its up side with the fact he just didn’t care about anything,” , says the Australian who leaves for McLaren after a short adventure with Renault.
“He didn’t care about annoying people or the risks, it was ‘I’m going to go out there and drive this thing as hard as I can’. I think probably he didn’t understand the responsibility, he kind of raced with a lot of free will that worked out for him pretty well a handful of times.”
