Hamilton on contract: "It's not our first rodeo together"
- GPblog.com
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff said earlier that he would like to know before the end of the season who will be getting into the cars in 2021. Valtteri Bottas has been confirmed and Lewis Hamilton seems only a matter of time. Hamilton himself would like to stay with Mercedes.
Negotiations
Hamilton has been driving for Mercedes since 2013 and has won five of his six world titles with the team. In 2020, he is well on his way to making seven titles in total. For him, therefore, there are few reasons to leave the German team. "I am lucky to have been able to negotiate my last two or three contracts myself. Every time you learn something during the whole process. I'm not someone who wants the same thing over and over again," says Hamilton according to Motorsport-Total.com.
"You grow together as a team and therefore have to make sure that our values, goals and wishes are in harmony", Hamilton continues. "That's how you see how you can make more of it. Toto and I know each other. It's not our first rodeo together. It's a pleasant experience."
Hamilton's last big contract?
At 35, Hamilton is one of the oldest drivers on the current Formula 1 field. It looks like this is going to be the last major contract of his F1 career. In any case, Hamilton has never doubted that he wants to continue with Mercedes.
