Schumacher draws comparison: "He is the greatest of his time"
- GPblog.com
It is possible that Lewis Hamilton will match the record of most Grand Prix victories of Michael Schumacher this weekend. Moreover, with eight races to go, it is not a bad idea that this record of 91 victories will be broken this season.
The question that often comes up is: is Hamilton the greatest racer of all time? Ralf Schumacher is also often asked this question. "My opinion: He is certainly the greatest of "his" time. Just like Michael", explains the German in his column for Sky Sport. "But a comparison with my brother is difficult, because many factors play a role. Lewis, of course, has a mega-package in addition to his brilliant talent. That is not comparable to Michael's then."
Hamilton's future
Schumacher also discusses the future of Hamilton at Mercedes. "The new contract has still not been signed. This is exciting to look at." Another factor is whether Mercedes will remain in Formula 1 for a long time at all. "Rumour has it that Mercedes wants to sell its team by the end of next year. This rumour continues in the paddock."
In his view, that is also the reason why the negotiations between Hamilton and Mercedes have not yet been concluded. "This uncertainty has consequences, of course. It paralyses such future decisions. After all, Lewis is not an insignificant person. And a very expensive one, I am sure. Moreover, he wants a contract that is longer than a year."
