Max Verstappen hopes that Honda will extend their stay in Formula 1. The current contract of the engine supplier expires after next season and there is still no clarity whether the Japanese intend to extend their contract. Honda has in any case explained to Verstappen what went wrong at Mugello.

"We are just trying to work on that and make sure it doesn't happen again. They have explained a lot to me, hopefully it won't happen again," Verstappen told Formula1.com about his three failures in nine Grands Prix.

At Formula1.nl the 22-year old Dutchman went a little deeper into the situation with Honda. Verstappen has confidence in the manufacturer. "They solved it by imitating it on the test bench," says the driver of Red Bull, who further expresses the hope that Honda will continue in Formula 1 after 2021.

Verstappen about opportunities in Russia

In recent years Red Bull did not perform very well during the Russian Grands Prix. It is up to Verstappen to beat Mercedes after six victories in a row in Sochi. “Of course, there are a lot of long straights and a lot of 90-degree corners, which are very short corners, so you can’t make a massive difference," Verstappen seems to be aiming for an advantage in terms of engine power for Mercedes.
