Horner doesn't see why Hamilton would want to fight Verstappen
Eddie Jordan said last week that Lewis Hamilton should leave Mercedes and sign a contract with Red Bull Racing. The six-time world champion could then show next to Max Verstappen how good he really is. Christian Horner doesn't understand much of Jordan's suggestion.
Verstappen also indicated during the press conference in Russia on Thursday that he did not understand at all why Hamilton would choose to move in the direction of the Austrian team. Horner, too, finds it hard to imagine.
Horner expects Hamilton to extend its contract
"I wondered what Eddie had been drinking," said the team boss of the Milton Keynes based race stable at the team boss press conference on Friday afternoon. "Look, from a fan's perspective he's absolutely right, but I haven't heard from Lewis lately, so I can only imagine him staying where he is."
And so it is up to Red Bull to give Verstappen a competitive RB17 to be able to compete against the Mercedes for the world title next season. "I think everyone wants to see Verstappen and Hamilton head on and hopefully we can give Max the means to do that, especially in the remaining races this year, but also next year and the year after," concludes the 46-year-old.
