Verstappen's last attempt just failed: "Tyres were too hot"
Max Verstappen didn't expect to finish in second place in Sochi, especially after the bad luck in the last few races. The Dutchman is therefore very happy with the result and the performance of his team.
In the first phase of the race, things were not going quite so well for the Red Bull Racing driver. "I was struggling on entry to all the medium speed corners but after that pitting onto the medium tyre we were more competitive. I was a bit lonely but we could see that we were closing, and I wanted to go for the fastest lap but the tyres were too hot," Verstappen said in front of the Sky Sports F1 camera.
Result beyond expectations
"It was a good result. Normally and realistically we should have been P3, but I think we did everything well as a team today and maximised the result, so very happy with second. Initially, we were struggling a bit on the medium tyre had too much oversteer," the Dutchman concludes.
