Bottas proves nothing to critics: 'You will always win a race at Mercedes'

Valtteri Bottas made himself heard again after the Russian Grand Prix. Victory felt good for the Finn, who immediately went back to his critics over the on-board radio, something Peter Windsor couldn't understand.
Windsor mentions problems with Bottas
Bottas is the clear number two at Mercedes and that is also a much-heard story among analysts within the sport. However, for Mercedes, it is the ideal driver next to Lewis Hamilton and for the Finn, it is an ideal place to win races in Formula 1. According to Windsor, the fact that Bottas is now doing this is worrying.
''The way Bottas reacts deserves attention. I was surprised he said that. He's normally very mature, but such a reaction to your critics. If he's talking about me, someone who points out where Hamilton is better as a driver, then you're wrong if you think you've proved me wrong in winning the Russian Grand Prix,'' says Windsor in his video.
Criticism of Bottas
''He hinted that some have said or written that he should stop, but you didn't hear me say that. He's the perfect teammate for Lewis and also the perfect driver at Mercedes,'' says Windsor, recalling why victory in Russia means nothing.
''It's very strange that he thinks he proved something, while he was driving on tyres other than Lewis and was punished. You are always going to win a race in that car, because Lewis will never win everything, but with that, you show nothing. Where were the details in the short turns in qualifying that I did see with Lewis? That's what he has to look out for and not his critics,'' concludes the former Williams team manager.
