The Eifel Grand Prix could be a spectacular weekend. With cold temperatures and a high chance of rain, the weekend is unpredictable and that often makes for exciting races.

Opportunities for Verstappen

The Russian Grand Prix was certainly not a feast for the eyes, but after a week off, the drivers can get ready for a race that may be a bit more sensational. With temperatures not approaching twenty degrees and rain showers on the way, the teams and drivers suddenly face a completely different challenge.

''It seems to be getting a bit better towards the weekend, but if I can rely on the weather forecast, we see rain tyres on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. That's very interesting, because it's cold, so it's difficult to warm up the tyres. The more it comes down to the rider, the bigger the chance for Max Verstappen'', says Kees van de Grint at RTL GP Slipstream.

Unpredictable F1 race

''I hope the race is unpredictable. If you have rain from start to finish and that remains pretty much the same, then it is predictable. However, if the rain and drought alternate, the computer systems will go crazy and we'll see surprises,'' said Bridgestone's former tyre expert, hoping for an interesting race.

''Usually races with rain become very unpredictable and if we look at this season, the races that were fun are the ones that were unpredictable'', concludes Van de Grint. With cold conditions and rain it is to be hoped that the drivers are allowed to drive and that we don't see many periods behind the Safety Car or in the pit lane.
