Red Bull Racing will be looking for a new engine supplier before 202. However, the Dutch racing driver has suggested an ideal solution for Red Bull Racing.

Return to Renault?

At the end of 2021 Honda will leave Formula 1, so Red Bull will be without an engine supplier from then on. With only three other engine suppliers in F1, there isn't a huge number of choices, but Coronel sees other possibilities for Red Bull.

''Of course this is a bit of a swallow, because Red Bull and Honda were an ideal combination. A Ferrari or Mercedes engine is out of the question and Red Bull left Renault with a divorce. That can only work again if Christian Horner and Cyril Abiteboul put their egos aside and talk everything out," said Coronel to Nu.nl. However, the racing driver has a better solution.

Honda doesn't just give up

''I do not rule out Mugen taking over from Honda. That is from the son of Honda's founder. He can take over his father's estate pretty easily and it would be a shame if Honda had to throw away all his investments in the Formula 1 engine just like that.

''Japanese never walk away with their tail between their legs. They will remain seriously involved until the end, you can count on that with the Japanese. The cooperation will not go out like a nightcap, but with a big bang. The engine updates will continue as planned and Honda will do everything in its power to perform at the top for the next year and a half," concluded Coronel
