Will racing at home in 2020 be a success? 'That will make the race unpredictable'

Rain and cold conditions are expected this weekend at the Nürburgring and that combination has come as a surprise. Toto Wolff is therefore not completely confident that his team will win.
Can Mercedes triumph in its own country?
In 2020, as in previous years, Mercedes have been the dominant force. The German team has been dominant since 2014, but on a track where cold and rain are expected, things could be different. Nevertheless, Wolff hopes to do well in his team's home country.
''We are very excited to go back to the Nürburgring. It is an iconic race circuit that plays an important role in Mercedes' racing history. It's where the legend of the Silver Arrows was born in 1934 and we're very proud to have added a few chapters to that rich history,'' Wolff explains in the Mercedes preview.
The adventure of Wolff
''The Nürburgring also brings back some personal memories for me: I watched my very first race here on the track, it's where I fell in love with motor racing. I also drove many races here and even tried the lap record of the Nordschleife in 2009, which was not my best idea,'' Wolff recalled.
''As far as the race weekend itself is concerned, we also know that the weather in the Eifel can be quite challenging at this time of year. The forecast is that it will be cold, rainy and windy - which can make the race very unpredictable. In those circumstances it will be a nice challenge to adapt the W11 as well as possible to the requirements of the circuit. It's going to be an exciting weekend."
