Verstappen not worrying about his future after Honda departure
- GPblog.com
Honda announced last week that they will be leaving Formula 1 and that immediately raises many questions about the future of Max Verstappen. However, he is not worried about that and is focused on the present.
Timing of Honda
For most people, the departure came as a surprise. The Japanese company had invested a lot of money and time in recent years to catch up with Mercedes, and the last two seasons seemed to have closed the gap quite nicely. In addition, Red Bull Racing are also getting closer and closer and so the moment of departure seems strange.
''I did have a feeling it would go that way, but still it is a pity. However, we shouldn't be so disappointed, because we still have a year and a half to work together and we will try to make the most of it. Honda also keeps pushing and will come back with new updates in 2021,'' said Verstappen on Sky Sports.
Verstappen only thinks about racing
According to Verstappen, the departure has nothing to do with the investments of recent years. ''Think it has nothing to do with that. However, I am not the boss, so I cannot look into their heads. However, it can be said that it has been a tough year for all companies,'' said the Dutchman who doesn't want to worry about his own future.
''This decision has no impact in the short term, because for next year we will continue to work together. There's still so much unclear at the moment, so I'll just leave that to the team. I don't decide any of that. I'm only driving that car'', concluded Verstappen.
