Honda recently dropped the news that they would be quitting F1 at the end of next year. However, they still want to score good results in F1 until their departure. The Japanese manufacturer had a mixed weekend, with Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly scoring points, whilst Alex Albon and Daniil Kvyat clashed on track.

"Pierre drove a very strong race to go from 12th on the grid to sixth, thanks to several exciting passing moves. His and Max’s performances are both very encouraging for the rest of the season," said Toyoharu Tanabe in the Honda review. He calls Verstappen's second place strong again and 'the signs for the upcoming races are good'.

Leaking radiator for Albon

On the other side of the garage with the Red Bull teams, unfortunately, there was less reason for optimism. Alexander Albon deteriorated during the race and, to make matters worse, he also ran into Kvyat. The fact that he finally retired was not his fault.

"Unfortunately, Daniil and Alex were less successful this afternoon. In fact, Kvyat’s race was compromised when he lost his front wing after the collision with Albon and later, the team decided to retire Alex, after debris caused a radiator to leak, which led to a PU issue," said Tanabe.
