Lewis Hamilton equalled an incredible record at the Nurburgring this weekend, taking his 91st race win in F1, now sitting joint with the great Michael Schumacher. The Brit took a gamble to join Mercedes for 2013, but it is definitely one that has paid off, as he has taken 70 of his race wins with the Silver Arrows.

"Like all of us, I grew up watching Michael win all those Grands Prix and I couldn't imagine that I could match him. I think reaching Formula 1 was the first step of the dream and of course emulating Ayrton. But Michael was just so far ahead. It is beyond my wildest dreams to think that I am here today and have matched him ...".

An entire life with Mercedes

Achieving the record is special enough, but it is quite extraordinary to think that he all of it with one engine manufacturer. From his days as a young go-kart, he was incorporated into Mercedes via McLaren.

"I am really grateful for the opportunity I got from Mercedes when I was 13 to join this team and I feel really proud to continue to represent them and to have brought this record to Mercedes. Hopefully we can break more records. Hopefully they know it was a good investment," concluded Hamilton at the press conference at the Nürburgring.
