Hulkenberg walks in with points finish: 'Will have got a lot per point'

Nico Hulkenberg can start counting his money after the Eifel Grand Prix. According to Giedo van der Garde, the German will be able to add some barrels after the points he collected in his raid.
Lucrative return
Nico Hulkenberg suddenly had to fill in again at Racing Point. Where earlier this year Sergio Perez was infected with the corona virus, Hulkenberg now had to turn up because Lance Stroll was too sick to race. Hulkenberg only drove in qualifying and the race, but from twentieth place on the grid, he drove to eighth place in the race.
With this Hulkenberg scored another four points, adding to his seventh place at Silverstone he already had ten points. According to Giedo van der Garde and Robert Doornbos that will earn him some money, they told Ziggo Sport.
Million for Hulkenberg
''I don't think he has a manager, but he broke into Racing Point earlier this year and then you agree on points or the fastest lap. It changes per driver, of course, but he can now tap off his coffee coupon from Cologne,'' says Doornbos, who is supplemented by Doornbos. ''He will have said that he wants an amount of money as soon as he gets points. I think he'll get a ton per point,'' says the former F1 driver.
That would have made Hulkenberg's return quite lucrative. Hulkenberg has already scored ten points, so with one tonne per point, it would have been as low as one million. Van der Garde is regarded as a reasonably reliable source, as he still has a lot of contact with the German after having raced together in the past.
