Ferrari is not doing very well at the moment and although they have brought several updates this season, the gap to the head of the field is simply too big. This year the Scuderia may be considered lost and it remains to be seen what 2021 will look like, as not so much will change then. Nevertheless, there is hope.

Good results

In the past period Ferrari has been busy developing a new power source and the good news is that it is ready for next year. This power source needs to be extensively tested and learnt from, but the results are looking good for now.

"Next year we will have a completely different engine. It has been on our test bench for months and the results are promising," Mattia Binotto said at the press conference in Germany. On paper that means they'd be better off coming along with the rest, but whether it's enough to challenge Mercedes and Red Bull Racing... of course, we'll have to wait and see.

In that sense, Binotto already tempered the expectations to some extent, he said that in practical terms it is impossible to close the gap to Mercedes. They want and expect to be more competitive than this year, because they are nowhere, of course. Maybe we will get the first impression of this during the winter test in early 2021.
