"Verstappen is the best driver I've ever seen on the track"

Although Valtteri Bottas won convincingly in Russia and although the Finn started his weekend strongly in Germany, the Mercedes driver seems to be carved out of different racing wood than Max Verstappen. Former Dutch F1-driver Jan Lammers sees the best driver ever in Verstappen. "Lewis Hamilton also looks very good in the meantime".
Bottas on paper even stronger
Jan Lammers looks back on the Eifel GP weekend where Max Verstappen was the only driver to keep up with the two Mercedes drivers. The Dutchman is remarkably good according to Lammers. At De Telegraaf he says: "On paper Bottas has, so to speak, more results than Max, but in my personal opinion Verstappen is the best driver I have ever seen on the circuit".
In terms of podiums and points Bottas is indeed ahead of the Dutchman. Bottas took fourteen more podiums and gained a total of around 400 points. An important difference, however, is that Verstappen has a much shorter presence in the sport than the Finn and even has a race victory more behind his name.
Verstappen has pure skill
Lammers continues: "He [Verstappen, ed.] can do much more. Daring doesn't always help and guts aren't everything. There are also plenty of tough guys in the gravel pit. It's just pure skill with Max. He can do that just a little bit better than everyone else. Although of course Hamilton looks very good too".
