Pierre Gasly regrets that engine supplier Honda will leave the sport after 2021. The French driver has a rich history with the Japanese manufacturer.

In the second year that Gasly drove for AlphaTauri (then Toro Rosso), the team decided to join forces with the engine supplier from Japan. After that, development went fast. Honda's engine kept getting better and better and enabled it to achieve good results. The highlight of his career so far is undoubtedly winning the Italian GP at Monza this season, made possible by Honda's power unit.

"Honda has done a lot for me"

"I am personally quite sad that Honda is leaving after 2021," says Gasly in the podcast In The Fast Lane. "Honda did a lot for me when I drove Super Formula, that's where our relationship started. I really enjoy working with the Japanese, they are so passionate. They always give everything, no matter what the circumstances."

"Of course, that is what you want as a driver: people who always do their very best for your performance. That is why I am so sorry that they are going to leave. Especially after all the hard work they have done over the past few years. Now we have an engine that can win races and I would have liked them to continue for a few more years. Then they could have gone for the world title," concludes Gasly.
