After a long drought for Renault, Daniel Ricciardo finally brought the team back to the podium at the Eifel Grand Prix. With the points the Australian has achieved, he has a remarkable statistic.

With loud cheers from the Renault team, Daniel Ricciardo finished third at the Nürburgring race. In doing so, he has secured Renault's first podium since its return as a factory team, as well as scoring a bunch of points. In fact, the Australian has been doing so well in the last few races that he is in third place when it comes to the drivers with the most points in the last five races - only behind Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.

"I don't think Mercedes counts anyway because they are so far ahead. So I'm pretty much the man to beat at the moment. I'm the guy with a target on his back," joked the Australian after the race against the assembled press, including GPfans.com.

Performance without pressure

Ricciardo has scored even more points in the last couple of races than Max Verstappen, who reached zero at Monza and Mugello. The Australian is confident after the successful series. It feels good, it even feels great. It has certainly been a good series, so hopefully we can keep it up.

"I don't feel like I'm under pressure to keep scoring so many points, though. Of course, I enjoy scoring so many points and racing at the front, so it's definitely my intention to stay the man to beat," Ricciardo concludes.
