F1 Qualifying result: Gasly equals best result, Verstappen in P3
- GPblog.com
Qualifying was partly exciting due to engine problems for Max Verstappen and a very small gap between the Mercedes drivers. In the end, Valtteri Bottas was slightly faster than Lewis Hamilton and the Finn will start from pole on Sunday.
Top work by mechanics
The Red Bull Racing mechanics have done a great job repairing Verstappen's car at a very fast pace. This allowed the Dutchman to go out in Q2 and he managed to advance to the final qualifying session. In the end he managed to qualify his car in third. Pierre Gasly equals his best qualifying result of his Formula 1 career. The Frenchman can start from fourth place and thus keeps Daniel Ricciardo and Alexander Albon behind.
