Perez about Red Bull: "It is a huge dilemma"
- GPblog.com
Sergio Perez is still without a seat for 2021 but seems to be actively looking around for possibilities next year. Red Bull Racing seem to be one of the possibilities for the Mexican, who has already managed to finish on the podium several times with Racing Point. The options are still open, but not for long.
“It is a huge dilemma. You can wait and therefore take risks. However, the season is almost over and it is important for the teams to have a plan, including for the drivers. I am currently considering all possible options and I cannot wait too long," Perez told Formel1.
Perez as the second driver?
In addition to Perez, there are also other contenders for the second seat next to Max Verstappen. Nico Hulkenberg is also a potential driver for Red Bull. “At the moment the focus is still on plan A," Horner explains. "If we need a plan B, we will let you know in time."
If Red Bull goes for Perez, he will have to settle for the role as second driver, behind Verstappen. “I haven't really thought about that yet, but I don't think they give you the role of second driver before race one. So I would be surprised if they choose that. But of course, I don't know how things go at Red Bull," Perez concludes.
