Now that Mercedes have won their seventh consecutive constructors' title and Red Bull are set for second, it is time to look at who can take third place. That battle is still very exciting. Currently, Renault are third with 135 points, while fourth McLaren and fifth Racing Point are equal on 134 points. Who is going to take third place this year?

Renault

This year, Renault have finally shown that they are once again a team to be reckoned with. Daniel Ricciardo has already taken two podiums this season and is now in fourth place in the World Championship. However, at the beginning of the season it did not look like the French team would be able to compete for third place. The bulk of  their 135 points have been won since Monza. The team have showed that they have made great strides in the right direction and are also an outsider for next year.

McLaren

While Lando Norris took his first podium in the first race of the season, the Grand Prize of Austria, the British team is falling further and further away. Carlos Sainz achieved a podium at Monza with his second place, but after that the team have been plagued by DNF's (which are also partly due to the drivers) and somewhat inferior results. So it remains to be seen if McLaren will be able to regain the good form they had at the beginning of this season.

Racing Point

Everyone was afraid of Racing Point before the season started. When it became known how fast their car was, everyone expected a lot of podiums for the team based at Silverstone. Red Bull even had to watch out for second place, that's how high the team of Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll were rated. In the end, the team got a podium. Stroll drove his car to third place at Monza, but the Canadian has had a tough run of form since. He is suffering from the effects of coronavirus and hasn't been able to score a single point since his podium. Teammate Perez, on the other hand, is doing a lot better, but he can't carry the team on his own.

Conclusion

Our conclusion, therefore, is that, if nothing crazy happens, Renault will take third place in the Constructors' Championship. The team will owe this mainly to the outgoing Daniel Ricciardo, who is showing that he can easily lead a team. Let us know below who you think will take third place in the Constructors' Championship!
