It is still not entirely certain what Lewis Hamilton is going to do next year. After the Grand Prix at the circuit of Imola he hinted that he might stop completely. It seems unlikely that he will actually do so. Felipe Massa says in the F1 Nation podcast that this is part of the contract negotiations.

Hamilton is simply trying to get the best out of Mercedes, and Massa also believes that the British deserve it. "So I think Lewis is just ... preparing a two, three-year contract, which I think he deserves, to be honest. What he is doing shows that he certainly deserves to be different from all the other drivers, in everything. Here in salary."

Schumacher and Hamilton the best

Massa makes the comparison with his former teammate and mentor Michael Schumacher. At the time, he was also the best in every way and therefore earned by far the most money. Hamilton also earns that and according to Massa, the other drivers can also benefit from that. "Michael also helped a lot of other drivers to increase their salary, so I think that's what Lewis is trying to do."
