Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri are together looking for a new engine supplier for 2022, but if we are to believe Franz Tost, we don't have to expect a definite answer yet. The AlphaTauri team boss states in the press conference that 'everything is still open' and that no decisions have been taken.

Helmut Marko, however, said earlier on Friday that he will soon be meeting the top of Honda. It seems that the Austrian team is aiming for a deal with the Japanese and that a return to Renault does not seem likely. According to Tost, all options are still open.

Aiming for clarity by the end of this year

Time is now running out. Tost confirms that a decision should actually be taken before the end of the year. The teams have already started with the first designs of the chassis for 2022. Whether that deadline will be met is still very questionable. There are also three Grands Prix on the program after Turkey, so it promises to be a busy, interesting period for Red Bull and AlphaTauri.

Tost himself prefers a longer collaboration with Honda. It is still unclear what this collaboration will look like exactly.
