Mick Schumacher is well on his way to winning the Formula 2 title in 2020 and, with that, most probably his place in Formula 1. Despite a long break, the German is ready for the last two races.

Formula 2 has stood still for a while, because after the last Grand Prix in Russia, the drivers in the F2 didn't have anything scheduled. This weekend, it's the time again for the young drivers hoping for a place in the royal class of motor racing and with the lead in his hands, Schumacher seems to be the biggest contender for a seat in F1.

Schumacher ready for battle

''I'm glad we're getting started again and feel ready for the assignment I have. This break is the same for everyone, because none of the drivers have been able to drive an F2 car since 27 September, but I have worked hard with Prema to be ready for Bahrain," says Schumacher in conversation with the German RTL.

''In 2019 Bahrain went very well, I drove my first race in F2 and finished eighth. That gave me the pole for race two, but I couldn't hold on to that spot," says Schumacher, who finished fifth in that race. Schumacher now has a lead of 22 points on Callum Ilott in the general classification, but with 88 points left to earn, the title race is theoretically still open until number nine in the general classification, Luca Ghiotto.
