Kevin Magnussen is likely to go to America in 2021, but according to new sources, the Dane will not be racing in the IndyCar championship, but will be racing for a legendary team in the SportsCar.

Magnussen is due to leave Haas at the end of 2020, which seems to be the end of Magnussen's Formula 1 career. The Dane made his debut for McLaren in 2014, lost his place in 2015 and joined Haas via Renault in 2017. There Magnussen showed some great things, but it is not enough for a longer stay in the royal class of motorsport.

Magnussen not going to IndyCar

However, with his outspoken opinion and aggressive way of racing, Magnussen is an ideal candidate to start working in America and that is why the link to IndyCar was soon made. According to Motorsport.com however, Magnussen is not going to IndyCar, but will drive for Chip Ganassi Racing in the IMSA Sportscar Championship.

The Chip Ganassi team is a big name in America, with a total of 18 different titles in Champ Car, IndyCar and Grand-Am. Magnussen would be the first driver to be presented for the new team in the Sportcars and will race a full season there. The season consists mainly of long distance races, with the 24 Hours of Daytona on 30 and 31 January as the first race on the calendar.
