After a bad weekend in Turkey, where Red Bull Racing missed opportunities and Alpha Tauri simply didn't have the speed, Honda hope to hit back in the desert in the coming weeks. The signs for a good result are there, but there is also work to be done.

Alexander Albon spun his RB16 hard into the wall during the second free practice, and his car will require a lot of work in the next 24 hours. Honda are approaching the situation with his engine with caution. "As for Alex's power unit, we are going to check it very carefully now," said Toyoharu Tanabe's letter response via Honda's Twitter channel.

Clouds were handy

For the rest of the day, the Japanese leader of the Honda F1 programme was positive. Everything went smoothly and the good weather played an important role. Because it was cloudy during the first session, it was a bit cooler than usual in Bahrain and therefore a lot of relevant information was gathered for the qualification and the race, which will be held in the dark.
