Will this be Hamilton's successor? Mercedes finds new junior driver
- GPblog.com
Mercedes has strengthened its own junior programme with top young talent Frederik Vesti. The Danish driver drove in the Formula 3 championship for Prema last season, where he won three times and finished fourth in the overall standings.
Dreams come true for Vesti
"I’ve dreamed of being a Mercedes junior and worked so hard for it, for so many years and that motivation has lifted me every single day", Vesti told the Mercedes website. Vesti is the fifth driver in the German brand's training programme, alongside George Russell, Paul Aron, Andrea Antonelli and Alex Powell.
"To now be working with Mercedes, the best team in the world, is a massive boost for my career and I am really looking forward to building a powerful relationship in the future", continued the Dane. Vesti says he admires Mercedes for their mentality and hard-working attitude.
You don't become a Mercedes junior overnight
"They choose their junior drivers very carefully, so I am really excited to be part of the programme, working with them and developing as a driver", Vesti concludes. Vesti will not make the switch to Formula 2 for the time being, instead he will compete for the Formula 3 title with ART Grand Prix in 2021.
