Alpine to test new parts on Friday in Imola
- GPblog.com
Alpine had a disappointing start of the Formula 1 season in Bahrain. Fernando Alonso crashed out with brake problems and Esteban Ocon could not finish within the top ten. For the Grand Prix at Imola the team will bring some upgrades for the A521.
At the front of the 2021 midfield, McLaren, Ferrari and AlphaTauri seem to be calling the shots, but Alpine would like to be in the fight for third place among the constructors. That's why Marcin Budkowski confirmed in a press release of the team that the team will introduce some upgrades for the car already in the second Grand Prix of 2021.
Disappointing start to 2021 for Alpine
"We left Bahrain feeling disappointed by not scoring points," Budkowski opens. "The Bahrain race weekend confirmed some of the weaknesses of our package, which we’re working hard to improve and gain the few tenths of a second that we are currently missing to fight at the front of the midfield."
To gain those last tenths, the team is coming up with aerodynamic updates for the car. "In addition, we have some test items to assess during Friday practice, which will help define further upgrades planned over the next few races," concludes Budkowski.
