Verstappen not panicking after P9: "We seem pretty competitive"
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen is reasonably satisfied after the first day of the Spanish Grand Prix. The Dutchman finished second in the first free practice session and in the afternoon session he recorded the ninth-fastest time after he had aborted his fast run due to a small mistake. The Red Bull Racing driver certainly feels that the RB16B is competitive.
"I just went wide in turn 10 and got onto the dirt but overall we had quite a good day and the car seems competitive so looking forward to tomorrow to improve a bit further," said Verstappen in an interview with Sky Sports.
Red Bull looks competitive
Ninth place, six tenths off Lewis Hamilton 's fastest time, doesn't seem particularly competitive, but Verstappen is feeling fine about it. We seem quite competitive, how competitive we're going to be tomorrow is always going to be a question mark, but from our side we are happy. Of course you always want to improve and do better, but there was nothing weird going on today so tomorrow we need to make sure we're out there," he explained.
On the changes made to Turn 10 last winter, Verstappen is moderately satisfied "I've been here before when they changed the corner, better for one-lap pushing, but for overtaking it's worse I think."
