Lewis Hamilton hopes to extend his lead over Max Verstappen in the world championship this weekend during the Spanish Grand Prix. This will not be an easy task as the two teams are very close to each other. After the free practices, Hamilton sees enough points for a good result on Saturday and Sunday.
The Englishman rode an excellent second free practice session and finished in the first place. In front of the Sky Sports cameras, the driver told us that he was satisfied with the way the weekend is going so far. "We started the weekend excellently," stated the driver, who was happy with his team. "We did an excellent job and can be satisfied with the final positions. Now we have to look ahead to tomorrow."
Ferrari also did well in the second free practice with the third-place for Charles Leclerc. Hamilton looks at the team's performance with admiration. "Ferrari are indeed making a lot of progression in recent races. That performance is fantastic to see," said Hamilton, who saw his teammate Valtteri Bottas finish just behind him on P2.
Verstappen vs Hamilton
Hamilton will battle it out with Max Verstappen on Saturday afternoon to decide who can start the race from the front. Although the Dutchman disappointed with the ninth fastest time, the Englishman is not counting on an easy qualifying.
