Max Verstappen did not manage to take pole position. The Dutchman drove a fast lap in Q3, but it was not enough to stay ahead of Lewis Hamilton. Helmut Marko was partly satisfied about the qualifying.

The Red Bull advisor saw that Verstappen set an excellent lap. "We only lost in one corner, and that was turn 4," the Austrian told Sky Sports F1. "We lost two tenths in that sector. From that point of view, we go into the race with a positive feeling, because we know we have a very, very fast race car."

"It all looks positive," Marko continued, looking ahead to Sunday's race. "Now we have to see how the weather develops. Will it stay this warm? Then it could well be a two-stop strategy."

Disappointed Pérez

Sergio Perez had another disappointing Saturday afternoon. The Mexican spun in Q3 and partly because of that he couldn't get any further than eighth position. He was almost a second slower than Verstappen.
