Max Verstappen is Red Bull Racing's challenger to Lewis Hamilton in the battle for the world championship this season. However, the Englishman won three of the first four races, putting him ahead of Verstappen for the time being.

Although the talent of Verstappen is not in question, the driver of the Austrian racing team has no experience in winning a world championship. Advisor Helmut Marko also sees that Hamilton has some advantages. "It's not just world championship experience. I don't know exactly how many years he is ahead of Max, but in terms of tyre handling and tyre use for sure. Hamilton is maybe the best in that," he stated in conversation with Motorsport-Magazin.

Verstappen already received a number of penalties due to track limits this season. Marko thinks that things need to change in the regulations. "Now we come to something very serious: they have to stop with these rules about the white lines. One time you can drive over it, the other time you can't. We have to drive on gravel and grass circuits because then you get penalised if you drive off the track. Otherwise, it's like an invitation to the drivers."

GP in Monaco

Verstappen hopes to make up some of his ground in the world championship in Monaco. For now, he is 14 points behind Hamilton, but with a victory at the next Grand Prix, he can significantly reduce this gap.
