Horner keeps faith in victory: 'On a par with Mercedes here'

After the free practices on Thursday Max Verstappen was all but reassured. Red Bull Racing's RB16B wasn't running as it should, but Christian Horner believes it will be on Saturday and Sunday.
Red Bull Racing came out of the first free practice session for the Monaco Grand Prix feeling pretty good, but the second free practice session showed a completely different picture. Suddenly Ferrari was in first and second, and Verstappen and Sergio Perez were in P4 and P8 respectively. Where has the speed gone?
Red Bull wants to win
''The circuits in Portugal and Spain are tailor-made for the qualities of the Mercedes. Here it should be different. We need to stay on par with Mercedes and for that, we want to win in Monaco, that's very simple'', however, Horner says according to Speedweek.com. The Red Bull team boss believes that if everything is pulled off, that victory is still possible.
''I'm happy with Pérez's good time. Daniel Ricciardo at McLaren also proves that drivers who have switched race teams need some time to settle into the new place. We are seeing an upward trend with Sergio, and that will continue. But we must also remember that within the team he is up against Verstappen, a very strong opponent,'' Horner concluded after Perez set the fastest time in FP1.
