Carlos Sainz had an excellent weekend by finishing second in the Monaco Grand Prix. The Spaniard scored his first podium in service for Ferrari. The 26-year old driver was asked how it was possible that the Italian racing team could come out on top in the narrow streets of Monte Carlo.

At the press conference Sainz is asked if it has to do with the type of track, the car or the driver. "Hmmm. All three. I think all three is the right answer," says the Ferrari driver.

Then Max Verstappen and Lando Norris take control and interrupt Sainz. Verstappen asks his former teammate if he has big balls, while Norris jokingly asks if Sainz has actually improved as a driver in Monaco, stating that there was surely more to qualifying than a P4.

Sainz wants to answer seriously

"These guys.... Let's get serious, okay? It was a serious question!" the Ferrari replied. "And I’m going to say we expected to be good around Monaco. We didn’t expect to be fighting for pole and win but we did expect to be closer to the front. We managed to switch on the tyres with every compound, which always helps around Monaco.

"We nailed the set-up, which obviously brings a few tenths also. Confidence in the car was high, which also helps. It’s a combination of things that come together and all of a sudden, in a special place like here, you can have a crack at it and we were close."
