Mark Webber thinks it's great that Max Verstappen won the Monaco Grand Prix so convincingly. The former Formula 1 driver knows that it is difficult to stay clear when there is less pressure. According to Webber, Verstappen has won a big battle, not only in the Championship, but also mentally.

"Max has caught a particularly big fish," Webber told the NOS. The former Red Bull driver drove the narrow streets of Monte Carlo himself on several occasions, also taking victory on several occasions. "A jewel of a win after a flawless weekend. Don't underestimate how clever that is. This victory is great."

Verstappen himself said in the press conference that it was difficult to stay concentrated for 78 laps, but that is what is needed. "It can bite you hard if your concentration drops for a while. Max didn't have a duel for an hour and a half. You can lose the GP in every second of the race weekend. Look at Charles Leclerc: he takes pole position and throws it away immediately," the Australian explains.

The fact that the Dutch driver was able to take such a big hit in Monaco is a huge mental advantage. According to Webber it can help Verstappen during the rest of the season."This is especially a valuable win because mentally it's such a tough race," he said. Still, Hamilton should certainly not be overlooked. "Watch out, Holland. A defeated Lewis Hamilton is an extremely dangerous Hamilton."
